4. Shot Selection

Below are a few examples of shots that will help you capture great looking footage.

 

Close Up

Close up pushes the zooms in as close as possible to the subject.  The close up is a tight frame around the subject.

Medium Shot

The medium shot fits the subject in any frame between the close up and the long shot.

Long shot

The long shot is a loose frame on the subject.  It is sometimes used as an establishing shot; followed by a medium shot or close up.

Leadroom

The space left in front of the subject, inside the frame.  Leadroom is especially important for capturing video of moving subjects.
